Bio Sketch

An MD graduate of Western University, Dr. Cooper continued his education at the same institution and completed his residency in neurology. Following his residency training, Dr. Cooper undertook a research fellowship from Harvard Medical School at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He returned to the London Health Sciences Centre in 1981 and was the former director of the neurology residency-training program.

He is currently Professor and Chair, Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Chief of Clinical Neurological Sciences and Senior Medical Director - Medicine at London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph's Health Care. Dr. Cooper has been recognized for his remarkable teaching contributions and was the recipient of the Edward G. Pleva Award for Excellence in teaching by Western University in 1981.

Referral Information:

Dr. Cooper has an interst in patients with clinically non-secretory tumours of the pituitary gland.  These tumours are often found incidentally when patients undergo MRI or CT scanning for other reasons--e.g. headache, sinu disease etc.

Patients referred to the clinic will be assessed, both from a neurological and from an endocrine standpoint.  Neuro-ophthalmological consultation will be obtained if necessary.

Dr. Cooper will also see patients with elevated prolactin.  Patients suspected of having Cushing's disease or acromegaly can be referred to the Neuroendocrine Clinic where an intial assessment will be made and they may then be referred to Dr. Cooper's endocrine colleague - Dr. Stan VanUum. 

All request for consultation are reviewed by Dr. Cooper and responded by him.  If Dr. Cooper is unable to see a petient or feels that it is not appropriate for this clinic, he will make alternative suggestions.

Patient must be 18 years old.  Referrals can be made by the family doctor or other specialist by faxing a request to Dr. Cooper at 519-663-2933.


Dr. Cooper's research includes trials of new medication and treatment in the area of Neuroendocrinology and Headache.
