Bio Sketch

Dr. Prasad completed his MD at the University of Delhi and his residency training in Pediatrics in India, UK, and Canada. His post graduate training continued in neurology and pediatric neurology in Canada and the United States. He completed his fellowship in pediatric epilepsy and electroencephalography at New England Medical Centre Hospitals, Boston, MA, USA. Prior to joining the LHSC faculty in 2003, Dr. Prasad was Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba in the Department of Pediatric Neurosciences and an adjunct Professor in the department of biochemistry and Medical Genetics, University of Manitoba. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK in 2003-2004.

Dr. Prasad has pursued an active academic career along with his clinical practice. In addition to publishing peer reviewed papers in several international medical journals, he serves as reviewer for Epilepsia, Archives of Disease of Childhood, Developmental Medicine Child Neurology, and Journal of Pediatric Neurology. He has been an invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings and has served on scientific committees of the American Epilepsy Society and the Canadian Association of Child Neurolgy. He is a member of several academic societies including the American Academy of Neurology, Child Neurology Society, Canadian Neurosciences Federation, the Canadian Association of Child Neurology, American Epilepsy Society, Child Neurology Society and the Garrod Association.

Research

Dr. Prasad's research interests are based in the clinical science of child neurology and epilepsy. He is interested in the interface between child neurology, genetics and inborn errors of metabolism. The particular areas of research interest in the field of leukoencephalopathies, organic acidemias, congenital CNS malformations, and population studies in epilepsy.
